للأختزال البصري والعقلي مفعول قوى جدا، فحتى لو وفرنا الحماية للآخرين من تأثير التدخين وحتى لو تمكنا من منع المراهقين من الانزلاق الى التدخين فستبقى دائما صورة الدخان الذي ينفثه المدخن تداعب مخيلتهم. أحيانا اتساءل هل المراد من الحرية وبالتحديد حرية الاختيار ان تكون تحد لارادة الانسان وغرائزه؟

رأي في الحريه. يجب ان تكون هناك حريه محكومه للانسان. لا نستطبع ان نعطي الانسان حريه مطلقه لسبب واحد: الانسان لا يعرف نفسه بسهوله. واذا بدأ معرفتها قد يكون الزمان قد ولا وانتهي عليه

ااذا اعطينا المراهقين حريه التدخين. بعد كم سنه سوف يعي بأن التدخين مضر

ولو اعطينا الحريه للمدخنين بالتدخين في اي مكان فمن سيحميني من الدخان المتصاعد منه؟

after writing the comment, i was thinking about this whole issue of legalizing prostitution. i’m not sure what i think anymore. you are right, it won’t solve many problems because there will always be “illegal” ways that are cheaper or “freer” or whatever. i guess my concern was with the way societies (not only ours) deal with prostitutes. they are often treated very badly even though many have been forced into it and when they try to seek protection or saving they don’t find it because they are not only involved in illegal activities but they themselves are stigmatized.

رغم اني ضد الفكرة جملة وتفصيلا الا انه حتى لو أفترضنا انه تم تشريع الدعارة فتأكدى ان الأمر لن يتوقف عند حدود رواج هذه السوق فالمطالبة بحرية الاختيار سيعقبه مطالبات أخرى وأخرى. فمجرد سن قانون يمنع بيع السجائر للاطفال والمراهقين على سبيل المثال لم يمنع المراهقين من التدخين والموضوع نفسه ينطبق على كافة آفات المجتمع التي تنشر وبائها اينما حلت

i think the problem is with people who use words such as “freedom” (implying individual freedom) or “democracy” or “values” “traditions” as if they were ends by themselves with a universal value known to everyone. So they end up not making arguments but statements about things like smoking and prostitution, etc.. While if we are forced to say WHY we think it’s good for one to express their personal freedom at smoking in public, maybe we will arrive at a more convincing outcome. Short cuts those days are encouraging lazy thinking.

as much as i agree with you on many things i disagree, for example, on legalizing prostitution. not because i think it’s good. i actually think that it’s horrible. but it’s an international phenonmenon and people who work as prostitutes have no protection and as a result contribute to spreading and are themselves volunerable to spreading diseases. do we just shut the doors? there will always be smuggling and underground industry. shall we just acknowledge that such a thing exists and is part of a very old and complicated international network and help protect women who are stuck and all the people who might be volunerable to diseases. there is a good movie on that, holywood style, “Monster.” Also, in a play by Abdelallah Wanous طقوس الإشارات والتحولات
